“Cure for a Crisis Situation”
Obesity, Cancer and Diabetes are at an all time
high in today’s youth. A
recent Washington Post front page article dated September
26, 2007,
highlights this crisis best as it notes “that
there is now legislation geared
to change the classification of certain food and drinks.
This will ultimately
lead to the elimination of all “junk foods”
presently available in schools”.
A new organization known as The PASS Foundation
has begun to actively
educate the public about the dangerous ingredients
found in today’s food and
beverages. A local Idaho company, ReddRox, Inc. has
joined forces with The
PASS Foundation, along with Jones Soda, Vitamin Angels,
Sparrow Guitars and
the National Wrestling Coaches Association in helping
to promote education and
information geared toward changing and adjusting the
perception of the public
as to what is and is not “healthy”. In
addition, The PASS Foundation has begun a Seal of
Approval campaign to highlight the many companies
and natural food manufacturers who everyday create
products geared to bringing healthy alternatives to
the American public.
Everyday people go to their local grocery stores
and can’t make sense of the food labels they
are reading. Many food and beverage manufacturers
today are under tremendous pressure to provide as
much of a profit to their shareholders as possible.
In the process, using science and sound health as
a guiding principle to source out their ingredients,
unfortunately is not often first priority and more
often than not takes a back seat to providing shareholder
profits.
With the nation trending toward healthier lifestyle
choices, from grocery store to pharmacy to home and
with the organic products industry growing at 9.7
percent annually and topping more than $56 billion
in consumer sales, according to The Natural Foods
Merchandiser's™ 2007 Market Overview, it is
clear that the general public is becoming increasingly
more aware of the risks associated with a lot of these
food and beverage ingredients.
The PASS Foundation has created several programs that it believes will be instrumental in bringing about the necessary and vital changes in America’s eating habits and as a result impact and possibly eliminate the many diseases we face, which to now have been ignored or been intentionally downplayed by the media and other public forums.
